This weekend my father shared a lovely story with me about a teenage boy that I knew when he was quite young. My family used to live across the street from his. Like everyone else, he has grown up, but unlike so many others, he has grown into an amazingly caring, selfless and insightful young man.
School really wasn’t his thing, but what was his thing was giving back. He decided that he would dedicate Tuesday’s to helping elderly folks in the community with just about anything they needed. He raked leaves, cut grass, carried boxes, took out the garbage and inspired his peers. His good intentions spread and grew into the mission of Tuesday Teens. Every week, more and more teens are lending their time and talents to make life a little easier for those around them. It doesn’t take much for them, but it means the world to those who they are helping.
The amount of perspective and care that this young man possesses is amazing to me. I love hearing stories like this because it inspires the hope that we all need and puts life back into perspective for so many of us.
