Why hello.
It has taken me 26 years to make my introduction into the blogging world. It’s a bit odd that it has taken me this long. I typically have a lot to say, and my brother, Patrick, who is a significant influence in my life, has had his own web site and blog since he was about 15. I wouldn’t say that I am behind the times, rather never took the time to speak to an audience (if there is one out there) in this way.
Upfront, I should let you know that I have an interesting goal in life. Among other things, I love to make people smile. I love thinking of creative ways to make people happy or enjoy life. Along with comments on life, current events and some of my favorite things, I will share with you some of my ideas that might inspire you to make other people smile.
As a little more about me, I am a freelance writer and communications consultant. Sounds fancy to some, but others (particularly my parent’s generation) respond with “What do you write?” - like there is nothing to be written out there except newspapers and novels.
I primarily focus on web content, as I work with my brother and his company more and more, but I am certainly not limited to that medium. I write promotional materials, interactive pieces, direct mail, resumes, cover letters (oddly, I loooove writing cover letters) and really anything else that needs quality content.
That’s enough about what I “do” though. Onto the good stuff. From a personal standpoint, I am a wife, daughter and sister, a jokester, traveler, problem solver, personal shopper, chef, movie buff and incredibly lucky.
I live in Chicago, about a half mile west of Wrigley Field, which as a huge cardinals fan isn’t as bad as you’d think. (It would probably be a bit tougher if the Cubs were any good, but they aren’t.) The neighborhood is a perfect mix of recent grads, young professionals and families. There are tons of amazing restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques and bars to keep the adventurer in you extremely satisfied. I love to just wonder the streets and people watch. I’d say it is definitely one of my favorite activities. And, I am sure you will hear all about the oddities that I see on the street each and everyday.
As mentioned above, I have a lot to say, and about a lot of different things, but that is enough about me for now. What about you?
I am really looking forward to getting to know some of you.
Talk to you all soon.
PS - There is a girl chomping on chips behind me in this coffee shop, and I can’t handle it. She definitely doesn’t make me smile…
